Field testing for adhesion is recommended for all substrates.
- Application Method: Apply the first piece to the rough opening sill, overlapping the housewrap. Firmly roll into place with a hand roller to smooth out wrinkles and air bubbles. Set the window, then apply vertical pieces over nailing flanges and onto sheathing, followed by the top piece overlapping the vertical sides. Apply housewrap over the BT20XL Butyl at the sides and head of the window, sealing with housewrap tape.
- Cold Weather: For cold weather applications (below 32°F/0°C), products should be kept warm (50°F to 90°F / 10°C to 32°C) for a minimum of 24 hours prior to installation. Primer should be used if adhesion is marginal in cold temperatures.
