Installation Directions:

1. Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry (damp is permissible, not wet), and free of foreign materials, gaps, sharp edges, or protrusions. Repair any damaged sheathing prior to installation. It is recommended to test substrates for adhesion prior to full application.
2. Application:
   • Install with the Printed Side out, either horizontally or vertically.
   • Always install in a “weatherboard or shingle fashion,” with upper courses overlapping lower courses.
   • All overlaps must be a minimum of 2″ (5 cm) on horizontal seams (head lap) and 2″ (5 cm) on vertical seams (end laps).
   • Cut membrane into manageable lengths. Peel back approximately 3″ to 6″ (8 to 15 cm) of the release film to begin adherence.
   • Continue by removing the remaining release film and hand smoothing the membrane into place. A hand paddle is recommended for smoothing.
   • Firmly press the membrane into place with a hand roller, starting from the center and moving to the edges, to remove wrinkles, air bubbles, and ensure full contact.
   • Inside and outside vertical corner overlaps should be a minimum of 6″ (15 cm) in both directions, staggered a minimum of 24″ (61 cm), and should not occur directly above or below windows or doors.
   • A chalk line can be helpful for aligning the first course.
   • End laps or side laps should not fall on horizontal or vertical seams in the exterior sheathing; terminate a minimum of 3″ (8 cm) past the seam.
   • Inspect and repair any damaged areas prior to exterior facade installation.
   • If stucco is used, apply a secondary layer of building paper or paper-backed lath over Protecto Wall VP prior to stucco installation, checking local codes.

Shelf Life & Storage:

• Maintains optimum initial adhesion when used within two years from the date of manufacture.
• Store in original, unopened containers, dry, out of direct sunlight, and do not double stack pallets.

Caution:

• Protecto Wall VP has an aggressive adhesive; remove 3″ to 6″ (8 to 15 cm) of release film at a time to prevent sticking to itself.
• PVC roofing membranes may react with the adhesive due to plasticizers.
• Do not adhere to skin (may cause hair loss/bleeding).
• Wear safety glasses and gloves.
• Use appropriate fall protection when working above ground level.
• Do not stretch Protecto Wall VP.
