They come with the fabric already attached and are tapered, simplifying the installation process: simply nail them to the roof and abut the square edge of the SmartVent™ to it. The design ensures that shingles will slope gently down to the roof as the SmartVent™ ends, creating a smooth, professional appearance.

SmartVent™ End Caps are particularly useful when terminating SmartVent™ runs around various obstructions such as chimneys, skylights, pipe boots, valleys, and hips, or any other obstacle where a continuous run is not feasible. When used in mid-roof applications, it’s recommended to leave about an 18-inch space between hips and valleys to avoid interference with flashing or cap shingle installation. They are installed flush with the drip edge at the bottom for eave edge installations, with the SmartVent™ butted tightly against the end cap. A 36-inch wide ice and water membrane should be installed over the SmartVent™ and end cap, extending up the wall a few inches when possible, ensuring a watertight seal. Shingles then overhang the lifted edge of the SmartVent™ by at least 1/2 inch to 1 inch.
